The British Stratego Association
hope to promote the game within the U.K. by helping players with
information and support surrounding the game. For this reason we set up
this website.
One of the other ways we are
helping to promote this game, is by trying to maintain regular
tournaments within the U.K.
Hopefully these regular
tournaments will encourage more and more British players to compete at
the highest level. Only by competing at the highest level, can the
standard of "Stratego" within Britain improve.
We have already seen a massive
improvement in the standard of our "Stratego" over the last 2 years.
Britain had Never
won a single Stratego tournament until 2005. (1 month after the B.S.A.
was formed)
Over the last 18 months since the
B.S.A. was formed, we collected our First
Ever tournament win (in 2005) Anthony Melbourne winning
the Stratego Olympiad.
In 2006 we followed up
this success with our players winning a Junior European Championship
and a World Championship. In the space of 18 months, the B.S.A. has
helped British Stratego reach "new heights".
An Olympic Champion, a Junior
European Champion and a World Champion (all won by different U.K.
players) in 18 short months.
British Stratego is Alive and
Kicking!
In
2007 British Stratego set even higher standards by adding to our list
of achievements. In 2007 Great Britain became World Team Champions and
Richard Ratcliffe took his second successive World Championship gold
for Britain, holding onto the World Championship he won in 2006.

About U.K. Tournaments:
Stratego
Olympiad:
The
Stratego Olympiad is the largest regular Stratego Tournament held in
the U.K. This is an International event which attracts many overseas
players and is one of the top International tournaments in the Stratego
calendar . Although the event attracts some of the best players in the
world, it also attracts players of varying abilities, which is always
nice to see. The event is part of the Mind Sports Olympics, which
organisers yearly tournaments for many different Mind Sports. Next
tournament August 2008. Tournament Style = Swiss Perfect.
World
Barrage Championships:
The
World Barrage Championships are held on a yearly basis and are part of
the Mind Sports Olympics. This is the Largest Barrage tournament in the
World and attracts Barrage players from lots of different countries.

U.K.
National Classic Championships:
This
event is open to any U.K. player. This tournament is hoping to attract
players from all levels of play and is hoped to help encourage and
promote the game within the U.K. The event will be organised by the
British Stratego Association (in association with the I.S.F.) and will
hopefully be a event which can be graded towards the "Official World
Rankings". The first ever U.K. National Championships were held in 2006
and were held online. The Next Championships will take place at some
point between October and November 2008. We will confirm the date, as
soon as we have a date fixed. The 2008 Championships is likely to be a
real life tournament. Tournament Style = Swiss Perfect.

as soon as we have a date fixed. The 2008 Championships is likely to be

British Open:
The British Open Stratego tournament was held for the first time in May
2008 in the beautiful surroundings of "Trinity College Cambridge". This
tournament is open to all players and is organised by the British
Stratego Association. The next tournament will be in May 2009.

Other Major Tournaments:
The World Classic Championships
Organised by the International
Stratego Federation, this is the biggest Classic tournament of the
year. The 2008 World Championships will be held on the 16th &
17th of August. The World Team Cup will be held on Monday 18th August

The World U.L. Championships
Organised by the International
Ultimate Lightning Association, this is the biggest Ultimate Lightning
tournament of the year. This year's tournament will be held online and
will start in November 2008.
The European U.L. Championships
Organised by the International
Ultimate Lightning Association, this is the second largest Ultimate
Lightning tournament of the year. This year's tournament will again be
held online. Tournament starts September 2008.
