2005 Classic Olympic Championship

This was an entirely different story. Here we learned that the Brits and the French are opponents to watch out for and that practice online seems to pay off. First time British tournament players such as Richard Ratcliffe surprised the crowd by taking points from a number of internationally recognized players.

The French, already used to tournament games and eager to show their skill to the world did the same. Alexandre Baert and his friend Julien Alexis made good way with a number of players including Barrage World Champion David Bouten. Julien got more Buch points than Alexandre at the end of the tournament getting him enough points for the 3rd prize. The leader of the tournament on day one, Dennis Baas, was one of the few people to beat both of them. Anthony Melbourne who had a draw on day one, but managed to win all his games on the second day could to become the first British player to ever win a tournament.

Medal Positions

Gold = Anthony Melbourne  (GB)

Silver = Dennis Baas  (NL)

Bronze = Julien Alexis  (FR)
